While clergy and lay assistants minister to the sick, frail, and elderly who are unable to attend church, many volunteers organise and conduct several other church ministries and support the work of the clergy by outreaching to the needy and disadvantaged in the community. There are activities to suit everyone's special interests.

The 'Take 5 Coffee Club' - The 'Take 5 Coffee Club' is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8.45 to 10.30 am (during school terms) and has grown in numbers since its inception 12 months ago.  It offers free tea, coffee and raisin toast in the church hall or in the courtyard (weather permitting) in an informal, relaxing atmosphere.  Situated next door to the Brooke Avenue Public School, Bateau Bay, many mothers and fathers who take their children to school drop in to enjoy coffee and friendship.  Once a month, a number of disabled people and their carers from Samaritans also join the group.  Many of the 'school mums' have become involved in assisting with the weekly 'Kids' Club' and 'Samaritans' (see below).  Newcomers are made most welcome.

The Church Op Shop located in the church grounds is managed and operated by volunteers on Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings. It provides cheap clothing and household goods to those in need. Donations of clean, wearable clothing and saleable household goods are always welcome during opening hours. The Op Shop Spring Fair is held annually in the church grounds on the second Saturday in September.

The Parish Pantry is stocked by parishioners and provides emergency food to social welfare recipients and disadvantaged families in need.

Samaritans' Link - The Samaritans Foundation is the welfare agency of the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle.

Samaritans is one of Australia's largest regional welfare organisations.  With over 450 employees and 400 volunteers, it provides a range of services for children, youth, families and those with disabilities.  Every week, Samaritans provides assistance to 250 families experiencing disadvantage in our local community.  Samaritans proviides food and utility vouchers, clothing and referrals.

In our local community, our church's link with 'Samaritans' provides assistance with social activities for disadvantaged clients and disability clients from 'Uniting to Care'.

Pastoral Partners' Program - volunteer parishioners are being trained to provide pastoral care to those in the community who have been identified as needing regular contact and care.

Karuna Group - has been recently formed and combines the former Women's Guild and Friendship Club. They meet to enjoy friendship, fellowship and outings while planning fundraising and social activities such as the Spring and Autumn Fairs, Cake Days, Luncheons, demonstrations, movies and Fashion Parades. They also assist the community in catering for funerals in the church hall.

Karuna meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 10 am

Mothers' Union is a worldwide organisation within the Anglican Church. Their aim is "sharing Christ's life by encouraging, strengthening and supporting marriage and family life". They meet monthly on the fourth Tuesday at 10.30 am and their varied program includes guest speakers, discussions on current social responsibility topics, Quiet Days, social visits, fundraising activities and service to members of the community.

Handicraft - a large number of 'crafty' people meet each Tuesday at 1.30 pm. Many of these members do not attend church, but come along to enjoy the company and friendship of others while learning new crafts and making a range of items which are sold at the Spring and Autumn Fairs.

Caritas means Christian love for others and is part of Mothers' Union Australia, a worldwide Christian Fellowship.

The Caritas motto is "Friendship in Action" and "Christian Love for Others".  The purpose is "to provide in the Parish an entry or contact point to those who are outside the influence of the church" and "To be an open, flexible and welcoming group within the Parish".

In Caritas, people find an unconditional hand of friendship and a warm caring welcome.  There are many people who are in need of the 'friendship and caring' a church group can offer.  Caritas is friendship based and designed to reach out into the community, offering Christian love, fellowship and a sense of belonging and encouragement to everyone - without restrictions.

Membership is open to everyone and activities provide friendship, relaxation and intellectual stimulation through meetings, guest speakers, outings and social occasions where everyone can relax, have fun and enjoy the companionship of others. Caritas promotes all that strengthens and preserves Christian family life. Members meet on the fourth Monday of the month at 7.30 pm in the church hall.

Kid's Club - Our Parish has a very active programme for children aged 6 to 12 and is held during weeks 2 to 9 of each school term from 3.15 to 5.30 pm. It caters mostly for children from the local community who pay a small fee. The children take part in singing, games and Biblical teaching designed to further Christian goals. Afternoon tea is provided and a feature each week is the completion of a piece of craftwork.

Children's Church - is conducted in the hall at 9.30 am each Sunday during school terms for a growing number of young children who come from both within the church family and the local community. In a loving, caring atmosphere, they follow a program of Christian teaching specially designed for the young. They are welcomed into the church with their teachers towards the end of the 9.30 am church service.

Bible Study Groups - there are four bible study groups in the parish: Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10 am, Tuesday evening, 8 am in the Rectory, and Building Belief on Sundays at 11 am following the Sung Eucharist and morning tea in the hall.
